The warm glow of golden hour sunlight on a mid summer evening lights up the view down through this "Valley of Gold" from the Craggy Gardens Visitor Center along the Blue Ridge Parkway near Asheville, NC. You'll often hear photographers say "it's all about the light", and while there are a lot of things you could say photography is about, light, and the quality of it, are definitely very high on the list. Great light has the ability to transform your average scene into something spectacular, something it may not have been just minutes earlier and may not be again mere minutes later, but for a brief moment something special can happen. The mountains can come alive with this beautiful warm glow, even the haze in the air picks up a golden sheen that is warm and inviting, and there is a sense that it was all created just for you. We were lucky enough to witness some of that good stuff on this particular evening, and it's a reminder that it really is "all about the light".
