Fine Art Landscape Photography | Appalachian Trail Blue Ridge Mountains

Spring catawba rhododendron flowers blooming under incredibly dynamic sunset skies along the Appalachian Trail in western North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee. I was blessed to be out on the trail with a great group of people and capture this stunning sunset while leading my "Spring in the Highlands" photography workshop along my favorite section of the Appalachian Trail near Roan Mountain, TN. This part of the Appalachian Trail runs along the border between North Carolina and Tennessee and offers many stunning scenic landscape views as you hike over alpine grassy balds atop of some of the highest peaks in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

To say that we saw some great conditions on this evening would be an understatement, with the low hanging clouds filtering the evening sunlight providing that golden hour glow on the mountains and the fresh spring blooms in front of us, what a scene to stand in front of!
