Bodie Island Lighthouse Sunrise | Outer Banks NC

Sunrise over the Bodie Island Lighthouse along the Cape Hatteras National Seashore in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. What an incredibly beautiful sunrise we were lucky enough to enjoy at this iconic lighthouse during our trip to the Outer Banks in North Carolina last autumn. I've been lucky enough to spend quite a few mornings at this iconic location over the years, but being there for the stunning sunrise on this particular morning stands out in my memory. The anticipation of showing up in the dark hoping you'll see something worth capturing in a landscape photograph that tells a story worthy of sharing with others, and watching with excitement as the lighthouse and surrounding landscape takes on the warm pink glow of a sunrise sky that hours earlier you had only hoped to see was an experience that I'll always remember.

Just a short drive from Nags Head NC, Bodie Island Lighthouse is a wonderful piece of civil war era history that stands as a beacon for visitors to the OBX national seashore. If you find yourself on the sandy beaches of coastal North Carolina, make sure you set aside some time to visit this popular local attraction.
