Thick morning fog and gentle waves washing up the beach at an old wooden fishing pier in Nags Head on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Some mornings for a landscape photographer are hectic, chasing some intense beam of sunlight punching through the clouds, or the sudden realization that you need to be three miles away from you're currently standing due to the changing weather conditions. Then there are mornings like this one, where the landscape is calm and incredibly peaceful, that just pulls you in and gives the sense that you are right where you want to be. I was in no hurry to get anywhere on this particular morning as I walked down the beach in Nags Head, this place always seems to affect me that way. I think that's the allure of beach life in the OBX, a place to slow down and allow the laid back atmosphere and salty ocean air to replenish you.
