Historic Anastasia Island Lighthouse Photography | St. Augustine Florida

Looking up through the interior of the historic Anastasia Island Lighthouse in St. Augustine FL. It takes a bit of effort climbing the 219 cast iron stairs to get up to the top of this lighthouse that stands 165 feet tall, but the sweeping 360 degree scenic views of St. Augustine Beach and the surrounding region is a nice reward for the climb and is definitely worth the effort. From the top you have clear views of the Atlantic Ocean and Matanzas Bay, as well as the historic downtown areas of St. Augustine including the famous Bridge of Lions. As a photographer, my attention was captured by the views inside this lighthouse built in the 1870s, it is beautifully crafted using materials and techniques from a era long since passed. Exploring this unique structure makes for a great afternoon adventure for those interested in the history of Florida and it's coastal regions.
