Gorgeous golden light over the spring rhododendron bloom at Jane's Bald along the Appalachian Trail in the Roan Mountain Highlands. This section of trail situated along the border of Western North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee is a favorite of hikers and it's easy to see why, with vast scenic landscape views stretching out in every direction from grassy alpine meadows that are home to large natural gardens of native flowers such as flame azalea and the catawba rhododendron pictured here.
