Folly Beach Sunset South Carolina Seascape Photography

A spectacular evening sunset at Folly Beach near Charleston, SC. This amazing scene had all of the elements a landscape photographer could hope for with a great subject, incredible lighting, leading lines in the sky and water to draw you deeper into the scene, and it's all topped off by a richly colored sunset sky. I especially like the way a beam of golden evening light perfectly highlights the fine detail of the tree trunks.

This image was shot on the eve of Hurricane Irene which can be seen looming on the horizon, and the scene at this location early the next morning was anything but serene. I thought the name "The Calm" was fitting as it represents the first half of the popular saying "The Calm Before The Storm".
