An amazing sunrise sky of pink and purple hues hangs over distant peaks rising above the morning fog in the mountains of North Carolina. This landscape picture was captured about 15 minutes before sunrise along the Blue Ridge Parkway south of Asheville, NC, on a cool autumn morning in late October. The scenic view from this location overlooks the town of Hendersonville in the mountains of Western North Carolina, as it appears from an overlook that's roughly 20 miles away on the Blue Ridge Parkway near Mt. Pisgah.
