Grandfather Mountain Blue Ridge Parkway Scenic Sunrise

A sunrise sky brings the first light of the day over the mountains from Beacon Heights near Grandfather Mountain along the Blue Ridge Parkway in western North Carolina. After arriving to the trailhead before dawn and hiking up the mountain on rocky trails in the dark, it's greatly rewarding to sit back and watch a beautiful scene unfold in front of you as the sun rises over the mountains to the east.
