Blue Ridge Parkway Sunset Landscape Photography

The brilliant golden light of sunset spills into the landscape over the layered peaks and ridges of the Southern Appalachian Mountains in this picture taken at an overlook along the Blue Ridge Parkway. October is such a great time to get outdoors in the mountains of Western North Carolina, with scenic mountain landscapes around every corner and comfortable temperatures to get out there and enjoy them. I got lucky on this evening in the mountains south of Asheville, NC, when the setting sun found a hole in the clouds near the horizon and let this beautiful sunlight stream into the scene adding depth and contrast to the layers of ridges in the distance.
